So then, this was my original team from the Red version, but not my first Pokémon team ever. Ah, the simpler times, when you didn't have to worry about the gender or nature of your Pokemon.
I think there was a Pikachu in my team, before I replaced it with Zapdos because the red cheeked bastard's level was falling too far behind the other team members. Then Zapdos got the boot after Mewtwo entered the picture. I'm surprised how I managed to beat the Elite Four with such underleveled team, must have plowed through them with the help of my overleveled Charizard. I have no clue why I never evolved Gloom into Vileplume.
The amount of hours spent playing this, is ridiculously low compared to the newer games, because there isn't really anything to do in the game after beating the Pokémon League and capturing Mewtwo. Sadly though, yesterday, while I was gathering these bits of information, an unknown error occurred during saving and so the save file was lost. Nooo!! After all these years! Why did you have to go dying on me now!?!

Oh well, easy come, easy go.....

From Animecon with love

This is what you get when you have too much free time and for once, enough money in your wallet.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Discord Vinyl Figure by Funko

I'll admit I don't actually like Discord's mismatched design, but his personality and powers are just awesome. A figure of Discord is such a rare sight for me, I couldn't pass this one up even if it isn't a sight for a sore eyes. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen one Discord toy along all the ponies in any store's toy aisle. Why is that? Girls can't play with villains?Although Discord isn't a villain anymore....

Dragonball Z Beerus & Freeza keyring by Bandai (The Best series )

OMG, this is the first time I'm going to mention Dragonball since I started this blog!? This might come as a surprise, considering the history of my blog, but DBZ is my absolute favorite series of all time (even Star Wars is nothing compared to it). Whew, I'm glad I got that announcement out of the way. I was a little skeptic about Beerus' character at first, but after seeing the movie Battle of Gods, this mix between Anubis and a Sphynx cat has become one of my favorite characters along with Freeza. You can't go wrong with a chibi Freeza, so this one makes a nice addition to my sub-collection of Freezas' and this lil' Beerus has the honor of being currently, the only God of Destruction in my collection. Hopefully, that will change in the future. These two are so small I'd rather consider them as phone charms, but it doesn't really matter, look at how cute they are!!

Dragonball Z Piccolo by Bandai (Tamashii Buddies series)

Did I mention that I like Dragonball Z? Well, Piccolo is my favorite of the good guys, and to my shame, he is far too often neglected as a part of my collection. I like the idea that these figures are stackable with others figures of the series. It is unfortunate, however, as far as I can tell, you can't remove the figure from the platform it is standing on. Having this "frame" around the figure doesn't really have any purpose as long as you only own one of these. I sure would like to have a Beerus, Freeza, Coola, Cell, Kid Buu, Broly and Janemba in this form!

Freddy vs. Jason: Jason Vorhees Horror Bishoujo statue by Kotobukiya

The Devil is in the sheer amount of details. I'll admit when I saw the Freddy statue, I thought it was a very bad idea and while I still think that the Freddy one is a little iffy, there is no denying how freaking awesome the this Jason is! The whole idea of gender bending horror icons is strange, but in Jason's case it totally worked out. I demand we get a bishoujo Michael Myers!! A little bit of nitpicking, but on the box art the hockey mask has deep scars going across it as if done by Freddy Krueger's razor glove but on the statue's mask the scars are barely noticeable. Aww.

Star Wars Real Action Heroes Darth Maul Reissue Ver. by Medicom Toy

A gorgeous amount of details has been put into this, but I still have some issues with it. For the amount of money one has to pay for a RAH figure, I'd expect nothing else but perfection and sadly, this doesn't live up to it. I may have a misinformed image of what the RAH figures are supposed to be like, which probably explains why my overall impression of this action figure would be disappointment. I was under the assumption that these figures were very much customizable, but now when I am facing a problem called a (1) broken shoulder joint, my only two solutions are to A) buy a new replacement body B) send it to Japan to be repaired. Seriously, what the f*ck? How is it possible that one broken piece results into the replacement of the whole thing?? ArRgH!
And then there are little details here and there that are done "wrong" in my eyes, which aren't really crippling to the figure, but bug me out.
  • the lightsaber hilt has some strange, little curving at both tips when it's supposed to be straight
  • the neon red color of the lightsaber blades
  • the belt is on the wrong layer of clothing. It's supposed to be on top of the long sleeved tunic, but for some reason it's under it. I'm guessing it probably would be an easy thing to fix, but I can't do it, because I'm afraid this thing will crumble into little pieces if I touch it. Oh, these problems of my life.....
  • the stud earring, where is it?

Besides all that, I simply love it! X3

Animecon XII 11.7-12.7.2015 Kuopio

I wouldn't like to say this, but this year's trip to the Animecon left me very disappointed and sad, but to be fair the reasons for my disappointment are not the convention's fault, but rather my own. This was going to be the first time I was going to cosplay, but I'd to give that up because the damn post office failed me.
I like going to different panels, but this year, none of the panels sounded interesting to me, so therefore I didn't go to see any except for the guest of honor, of course, which was The Nostalgia Critic (Doug Walker) by the way. Both of his panels Movies Everybody Disagree with You On and TGWTG Q&A were fun and enjoyable until the last 15 minutes of the latter where one statement made by one of the fans that I thought was really out of line and hurtful, but I doubt anybody else felt that way in the room except for me. I left the convention immediately after that, thereby missing out on 5 hours worth of programs, including Walker's autographing session. I didn't want to be there anymore.

The Anime concert also started off with very unfortunate news, they were not going to play the opening theme of Attack on Titan for some unexplained reason, they did show an AMV with the opening music instead, which probably was the best consolation the audience could get. Like last year, my favorite part of the concert was actually the encore song which this time around was the Kirby's Dream Land theme.

Since I wasn't listening to that many panels this year, it left me with too much time to go on a shopping spree (which I am regretting deeply right now). I'll make a separate post about the figures I bought, but for now, here is something I usually don't buy at the convention's (that might change after this).

Ramune peach flavour (carbonated soft drink)
Many years ago I tried out the strawberry one, I don't remember liking it too much, but decided to give the drink another go. There were far more flavours to choose from this time around than what I remembered and so, I went ahead and chose the peach taste. Surprisingly, it wasn't too bad, it was actually pretty good! Thanks to this, I think I'll have the courage to try out other flavours in the future.

Pocky Cookies & Cream (chocolate biscuit stick coated with milk flavour confectionery and crushed cookies)
Similar to the Ramune drink, I've only tried a Pocky pack once before and I wasn't impressed. So I never understood why these were so popular, seeing people walking around with their bags full of Pocky packages. Why not give it another go? After all, they were conveniently sold at the same station where the drinks were and the queue was long and slow which gave me enough time to choose which flavour I wanted. I deliberately chose the one I thought looked the most delicious and oh yes it was! It's like you can't stop eating them one after another once you take a bite! I definitely will pick up more of these in any following conventions.

Meltykiss Fruity strawberry
That is all I can read on the package because the rest is in Japanese. I wanted to try out something I've never had before and this one seemed safe enough, because all the other sweets drowned under their cute mascot characters and lacked a proper image of box's content, which this one does well. They did have green tea flavoured Meltykisses as well, but based on my experiences with the actual tea itself, I knew to stay away from it. There's a very thin layer of chocolate covered in chocolate powder and I'm guessing that the inside is some sort of strawberry cream filling? Whatever it is, it's quite good. I don't believe I'll be buying any more of these in the future, even though there was nothing wrong with them. The overall experience didn't match up to the price.

Moomin candies

Moominmamma's jellies 250g
The snowflake decorations on this candy bag tell me that this was intended to be sold during the Christmas seasons, which would explain why it was already expired when I bought it. I hope someone at the store will notice that they're selling months old candy for full price. I didn't even notice it before I was home.

There are three different flavours of jelly in the shapes of Moomin characters; forest berry, apple and orange.
I generally dislike the taste of oranges in any shape or form and that holds true this time as well. The yellow ones taste really bad. The red ones start off good, but leave you with a very yucky aftertaste. The green jellies are the best out of the bunch. They start a little bland, but as you keep chewing that fresh apple taste really comes through. Overall, I would call it disappointing. Behind the beautiful packaging and the cute jelly shapes is only what can be described as disgusting (with 1 exception).

Moomin Gift Box Candy assortment
Contains one Moomin pendant. 6 different characters available.
These ones were sold around Easter, with a price closing in on a whooping 10 €. I bought mine in a local shop that had 50% off of all their excess Easter sweets. And on the very next day I saw this advert for an another store that were selling these off for only 2 euros!!! Needless to say, but they were sold out long before I managed to get there. As a consolation prize I took one of those cardboard boxes the store kept the candy boxes in. Not really sure what I'm going to with it, but at the moment it seemed like a better idea than leaving the store empty handed after a one hour drive.

Snorkmaiden's (Xylitol) Fruit Pastilles 20g
Uh oh, orange again! But with a big improvement, this time it isn't as disgustingly bad, just a regular bad orange taste. I can't put my finger on it what the red ones taste like, but I'm guessing some berry, maybe strawberry? The taste is okay, not bad, but not great either. Oh apple, what happened? It tastes the wrong kind of funny in the beginning but ends up with an OK artificial apple flavour. These things stick to your teeth if you try chewing them, so you're better off just leaving them to slowly melt away. Overall, nothing foul here, but equally as forgettable.

Little My's Fruit Pastilles 21g
We meet again, orange. The orange taste itself hasn't improved a lot, but the texture of the candy does save a lot, so I just might consider these ones to be okay tasting. Then the yellow one is... lime? Something very citrus  anyway, reminds me of Sprite. Don't know what the red one is supposed to taste like, but I like it! Overall, they are pretty good. Compared to the previous pastilles I like these one's texture a whole lot more, they are harder and less chewy.

Moomin Strawberry Milk chocolate 18g
Now this is great! The chocolate is very light and airy and there's just enough hint of a strawberry. Overall, this is excellent! The only downside is that you can't get it in bigger sizes.

Xylimax fruit flavoured chewing gum 6,5g
The only flaw here is that the flavour wears off pretty quickly and leaves a bland aftertaste, but then again, this is a flaw every chewing gum suffers from.

Fruit flavoured lollipops 8g
Pretty generic, nothing stands out in a good or bad way.

Liquorice filled with pear-vanilla flavoured yoghurt filling 20g & Liquorice filled with blueberry-raspberry flavoured yoghurt filling 20g
I like these ones a lot. At first I wasn't really sure which one I liked better, but I'm starting to lean more towards the pear-vanilla one. It's just a little bit sweeter than the berry one.

Assorted wine gums, in the shapes of Moomin characters.
The flavours are strawberry, pomegranate, orange, pear, liquorice. I liked all the other flavours except the liquorice, which is too salty for my taste. I'd probably say that the pomegranate was my favorite.

As for the pendants, they all look very charming and it would have been nice to collect them all. Still, I'm very satisfied with the one I got, which was Moominmamma.
